Week 8 Fox Ball Scramble Results

We had 68 golfers participating in the Fox ball scramble today. The weather was beautiful, the course was in great shape considering all of the rain that we have had. Then we had a great lunch of pulled pork, baked beans, and potato salad.

Roger Goddard's foursome of Joe Cross, Gary Hamilton, and Mike Siddall ran off and hid with the winning effort. They shot a 10 under 60 followed by three teams that shot a 63.

Teams highlighted in pink lost their fox-ball.

Rain Out!!!

The weatherman finally got to us. Phone calls to cancel began to come in before 6 this morning. By 8:30 the weather report still was not promising and although 15 golfers showed up, only 12 expressed an interest in playing. The league event was thereby cancelled and the 12 were told to gather their own group and play an open format.

The initial forecast for next week looks very promising - mid 70s and mostly sunny. That is the best forecast we have had for the last four Tuesdays.

We will play the Fox ball scramble with a cookout to follow next week. For those new with us, a fox ball scramble is where each team is given a pink ball which must be alternated between players for each hole. The player with the pink ball must not lose it or the team will be disqualified from any chance of winning.

Be sure to sign up.

The most recent weather forecast calls for an 80% chance of rain for Tuesday. If that holds, the cancellations will come pouring in on Tuesday. Rather than spending hours on creating foursomes and scorecards only to discard them when we end up with a bunch of twosomes, we will make them up with the golfers that show up and intend to play. It may cause us to be a little late starting.
If the forecast improves, I will create the pairings and scorecards as usual.

Keep posted on the forecast and on this site.

Noah built an ark. Noah wasn't playing today but 54 brave souls were and surprisingly the weather got better and better.
Phil Corey shot the lights out with a net score of 64 to lead the field. The greens were faster and are beginning to smooth out.

We had so many cancellations that we had to throw out the pairings and scorecards and start all over again, but we made it work.

Listed below are the winnings and a list of the results. We played individual with ABC skins. If your name is listed in the 15 winners, see John to get your winnings put on your green card.
There were 20 skins paying $5 each.
Next week we will try to play the 4 man team 2 best net balls event again. Signup.

Week 6 Results

Conditions were rough today - soggy turf and high grass and the results showed the effects.

Despite the conditions both Mike Poling and Ron Cullen had outstanding rounds of 73 and 75 respectively. We had our largest turnout of the year with 73 golfers participating.

Listed below are today's results.
