Season Ending Results

We had 74 players participating in a 4 man team 2 best ball format. Jim Bussey pointed out that there were errors on the handicaps of some of the scorecards. Checking the scorecards out, I found that for some of the silver tee players the computer had shortchanged some of their handicaps. In most cases the result did not change the results of the scores but three of the teams (highlighted in red) were effected. Each of those teams were effected on hole number 7.  The scorecards were corrected to match the true handicaps.

The Team of Pat Stoneking, Jim Hackathorn, Richard Board, and Jack Conlon was the top dog with a thirty under par score of 110.

The payout on the green cards was $228.

There were 8 skins (highlighted in gold) which paid out $5 per skin.

There were only two people that signed up to play on Thursday at Lakeside, so no tee times will be requested.

A committee was proposed and approved to meet during the off season and recommend changes to be voted on by the league members prior to the start of the league in April 2017.

If you have recommendations of members to sit on this committee,  please submit their names to me by November 1st 2016. My home phone number is (304) 850-4369. My e-mail is jcmcelhinny@gmail.com.

Results of Final Senior Challenge Matches at Woodridge

The final match of the 2016 Senior Challenge was held Friday at Woodridge Golf Club. We had 12 players participating with 55 total of all the clubs present. The weather forecast was not good and skies were threatening through the first 7 holes of play. Then the clouds began to break up and the sun started shining through and the conditions were fine for play.

We completed the round with an average score of 68.75 to finish in 2nd place for the day. When the cumulative scores were calculated Oxbow finished the season with 11 points, GCWV and Mingo with 10 points each and Woodridge with 9 points.

In my mind, based on play, we finished as the champions when we add the three points that we lost at Oxbow for not having the required 8 players. So all in all it was a great season. My sincere thanks to all of you who played this year.

We didn't finish first in the days results or the seasons results but we did finish first in the Roy Alkire received $12 for a closest to the pin, Butch Powell and Craig McElhinny each won $14 for skins.
