Amazing September

What an amazing September day. Although a little warm it was perfect conditions for golf.  The scores reflected the conditions as 24 of the 52 players had net scores that were below par.

Jim Taylor found the conditions perfect as he recorded a blazing 8 under net 62.

Next week we will close out our year capped with a steak fry. The menu will be Rib Eye steaks, baked potato, Caesar salad, rolls, with your choice of apple, pumpkin, or pecan pie with ice cream and whipped cream as you choose. It is very important that we have enough steaks for everyone, if you don't sign up to play, at least let me know if you will join us for the meal.

This is a little late posting, but I couldn't get the picture out of my cell phone. Congratulations to Roger Goddard for winning the 2017 President's Cup and to Mike Poling for his runner-up finish.

SMGA Championship

Congratulations to Joe Crislip and Alan Hall for winning their respective SMGA championships. Joe fired an even par 70 to claim the Low Gross Championship, while Alan shot a 6 under par net 64 to win the Low Net Title. Congratulations to each of you.

We had 50 golfers playing yesterday under beautiful and unseasonably warm temperatures.

We have two weeks left for league play. If you haven't been playing or are unable to play, be sure to still come out for our final day on October 3rd and share a steak with us and participate in the annual business meeting.

September 12, 2017 Results

We had 44 golfers participating yesterday in a four man team two best net ball format.

Roger Goddard captained the helm of the hurricane force performance of his other three players. Dave Zoller and Jim Hackathorn each had a net 67 but Alan Hall was a category 9 force with a net 60. The team finished first with a net score of 31 under par 109.

Finishing second was the team of Jim Taylor, Jerry Kern, Ron Warfield, and Bill Packard.

The third place team was Ron Miracle, Don Kern, Jerry Mason, and Jim Metcalf.

Coming in fourth was the team of Jim Bussey, Tom Bobbitt, Jim Kennedy, and Earl Havens.

There was probably a record number of skins as 13 were recorded. There were only 5 holes where skins were not recorded. The winnings will be spread over 50 players and will be worth a major payout of $2 each.

National Champion

I have to take the opportunity to brag a little bit. We went to Colorado Springs after the rainout last Tuesday to watch and support our granddaughter as she competed for a national championship in figure skating.

We expected her to have a respectable standing but we thought a top finish was unlikely.

We never should have had a doubt. She and her skating partner took the first place honors in intermediate shadow dancing. It really wasn't close as she and her partner took  1st place from five of the seven judges. So she is a national champion.
