Results of April 25, 2017

I thought I was participating in the golf league until the score cards came in, then I realized I was in an advanced arithmetic class for adding up large numbers.

It was a weird day with sprinkles when we started, the wind coming from a direction I can't remember experiencing before, and pins set for the US Open.

was feeling sorry for myself for the poor round I had until I saw the other scores.

Anyway we had 51 golfers trying to solve the putting solution.

There was a question about being able to see the images of the results sheets. You can use the scroll bar at the bottom of your screen to scroll to the right or left to see the entire sheet.

The Shot of The Day!

Alan Hall was the big winner on Tuesday April 11th. Alan not only finished 4th in his group, but he had 2 skins topped off by a hole in one on 18. His hole in one earned him $300 and was witnessed by Ron Miracle, Gary Hamilton, and Jim Hackathorn (See the pictures below).

We had 54 golfers out yesterday.

Winner of the A group was Pat Stoneking with a 78 and an 8 handicap for a net 70.

Winner of the B group Jerry Mason with a net 67.

Winner of the C group was Barney Poole with a net 66.

Congratulations to all of the winners.

Take heed golfers, Joe Crislip had a gross 72 but has not completed his 5 handicap rounds so he has been ineligible for cash prizes.

All of the results are posted below.

Sorry that I have to bring this up, but it needs to be sai
As a group many are now signing up and then not showing up and not calling to say they are not coming. On the other hand several are coming in without signing up. To top it off many are coming in to play just minutes before we tee off. The purpose of the signup sheet is to make up foursomes to facilitate efficient play and get everyone through their round with minimal delay. When people don't show up, we can't fit others that haven't signed up into vacancies. All of this came to a head yesterday when we had a large number of no shows and a lot of people that came late wanting to play. As a result it was chaotic just to get people into groups and then there were large waiting times and players that were upset with the delays.

If you have signed up, please show up. If there is an emergency I can understand that but at least call and say your not coming. If you are playing it should not be a last minute decision. The signup sheet is posted a week ahead of time. You can signup by calling the club, calling me at (304) 850-4369 or e-mailing me at jcmcelhinny@gmail.com.

Please at least arrive ready to play by 8:45.

Repeat offenders as no shows will lose the privilege of being included in playing groups and tee assignments.

Sorry that this needed to be said, but we have lost for
our fellow golfers

Who Would Have Thought

I wouldn't have bet a nickel that we would get opening day play in. All of the weather forecasts for the last ten days were calling for rain all day.

When I saw Jerry Kern, I thought to myself that we would be the only two to show up. Wrong!

We had 44 brave individuals to come out and play with five new members.

I want to welcome Joe Crislip, Tom Bobbitt, Bill Packard, Bob Leach, and Jeff Everett as our newest members.

Conditions were really tough and the scores showed it, with heavy clouds, wet ground, and strong winds.

Mike (no show) Poling was the first one to complain and the low net among the A players. Mike was complaining about not using new handicap lists and said he wasn't going to play because he couldn't compete with his 6 handicap. He won top honors in his group as well as recording 2 skins. Not bad for not being able to compete.

Congratulations as well to other group winners - Pete Depond, and Phil Sigler.

If your name is on the payout lists, Give your green card to John to get your winnings updated.

The official results are attached below.

The ballots have not been counted as yet as we will hold the election over through next Tuesday's event for those that have not had the opportunity to vote.

Next Tuesday's play will begin at 9 A.M.
